The meaning behind Mashuve
Mashuve is a word from the Pare people of north-eastern Tanzania. It means monkeys. We chose it because monkeys move as a family, watch out for each other, and are endlessly curious about their world. That is exactly the spirit we bring to every safari.

Our story
Why we started Mashuve.
Mashuve Safaris was born from our love for Tanzania and our dream of sharing this incredible country with others. As a family-run company, we want to offer safaris that feel personal and authentic, combining local knowledge with a genuine connection to the places and people that make Tanzania so special.
The name Mashuve carries a special meaning. It comes from the Pare people, an ethnic group from the western slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro near Moshi. In the Pare language, Mashuve means monkeys. The name has been passed down through generations in our family, reflecting our Pare heritage. Choosing it for our company is our way of honoring the grandparents who passed it on and carrying their legacy into every safari we create.
For us, a safari is not only about seeing wildlife. It is about experiencing Tanzania, connecting with its people, and creating meaningful moments that stay with you.
Karibu – welcome to Mashuve Safaris.
